ABOUT

           Josh Adam Dawson was born in Atlanta, GA, to James and Luana Toney.  Shorty after his birth, his family moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  From a very young age Josh excelled at sports, which included, Basketball, Football, and Track & Field. But Josh’s true Passion was not on a court, or on a field, but on stage. Whether it was at his father’s church singing or leading worship service, or at his Performing arts middle school, where he led the schools musicals, and performed with the school’s dance team, Band, and Choir.  Josh comes from a very musical family. His mother, along with his two uncles and two aunts , led by Josh’s Grandparents Henry and Mildred Dawson, performed at numerous venues. It was no surprise the legacy was passed on, and Josh seemed more than willing to follow in his families footsteps.
In High school He participated in Drama, where he led most of the schools productions, even receiving  the honor of Best actor in the state’s 1 Act competition. He joined the Speech and Debate Team, winning the 2006 NAtional forensic League National Speech and Debate Tournament.

       In 2006 all of that work seemed to have payed off when Josh, with 150 of the nation’s most talented high school senior artists, spanning nine disciplines, were invited to Miami for a YoungArts Week. The performers were Selected from up to 7,000 applicants from across the country. Josh selected as an artist representing the field of Musical Theater. He was then awarded a Level 1 prize, and selected As the 2007 American Airlines ARTS winner in Musical Theater. Josh has attended  the prestigious Musical Theater Departments at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music (CCM) as well as The University of Michigan. At school Josh was in a number of shows, which included Assassins, How to Succeed in Business without really Trying, and The musical adaptation of Two Gentlemen of Verona, where he played the leading role of Valentine. At U of M he assistant Music Directed BAT BOY and Performed in the Musical CRAZY FOR YOU. 

                 He has Performed at theaters and venues across the country, and has been a featured singer on Tour with Wynton Marsalis and Jazz at Lincoln Center . In his spare time he works as an Image Consultant in NYC. He has helped cast and dress shows for NY fashion week and London Men Collection week (:winter 2015) You can also find him writing for the musical theater. He has written several 1 act musicals and is currently working on his first Full length show. He is a Proud member of the Actors Equity Association. And with the love of his "soon to be" wife Brittany Bohn, His parents, Twin Sister Asia, Friends, and the grace of God, he continues to live his dream and keep his families legacy alive.
